Custom Home Menu Tutorial for UI Mod 0.4

If you want to have a Custom Home Menu on your PS4 you need to edit your own Database. Below you find a Sample with custom files. I have made it as easy as it can be:

1. Download and run DB Browser for SQLite
2. Dump your Database \system_data\priv\mms\app.db
3. Open app.db and modify the content

Custom Content Icons

– With the FTP+RW you can just replace the icon0.png and icon0_4k.png in /system_ex/app/NPXSXXXXX/sce_sys

Custom Title Names

– You can change the title for Apps

 

tbl_appbrowse: change the “titleName”

 

tbl_appinfo: search for your System Language “TITLE”

 

Custom Location

– You can move your installed Homebrew PKG to the ★ Homebrew folder

 

tbl_appbrowse: change “dispLocation” -> 6

 

tbl_appinfo: change “_contents_location” -> 2

 

Invisible Icons

– You can remove Icons of the Home Screen (do not edit NPXS20110 !)

tbl_appbrowse: change “visible” -> 0

 

Custom User Avatar and Custom BGM

– With FTP+RW you can change your profile Avatar and the background Music

Avatar: \system\priv\etc

 

BGM: \system_ex\app\NPXS20001\systembgm

4. Copy your modified files to PS4 hdd
5. Restart your PS4 and if you have done everything correct you now have a Custom Home Menu

    I’m working on a Custom Home Menu since 1.76. Senaxx was the first who showed a custom icon on Home Screen. On 4.05 I noticed that everybody has to edit the own app.db. We can do some visual customizations with the Database and a bit more, for example PKGs run external after deleting the PKG from internal hdd (on 1.76) but Sony changed few things.

    Hi! GREAT WORK!!! Is it possible to move User’s Guide onto main page replacing PS Store or What’s new apps? Or just make it sticky and be the first in a row? I’m not keen on using browser for exploits. Thanks!

    Hi, not with the Database. The Capture Gallery App call a menu entry on Settings. I think we have to modify SceShell to open the User’s Guide with a other call via Capture Gallery. Maybe you do not know but we can make custom action_uri calls via the notification.db for example I found pswebbrowser:play?mode=webbrowser.

    Yeah, I read your articles concerning notifications mod – it’s superb. I’ve checked all PS4 folders via ftp-rw, but didn’t find even an icon for user’s guide. The matter is that even its based on webbrowser in general, their caches are different, so it uses its own repository/folder/app in PS4 or it’s just an integral part of settings menu

    I’m sure the icon is in a .rco file. You can find the original debug settings icon (with the star) in Sce.Vsh.ShellUI.Base.rco. Would be helpful to extract rco files complete and a tool to compile.
